a) we had the tub refinished instead of replacing it. The bathroom currently has an old (original?) deep cast iron tub and it's hard to even find something comparable. Most new tubs are only 14 inches deep and frankly they're kind of light and crappy. The existing tub is more like 19 inches deep and it rock solid. Kohler does make some comparable tubs, but they start at $1200... and that's without the labor to remove the old tub, dispose of it, and then put in the new one. To refinish the tub, they basically rough up the surface, fix any chips or anything, and then put a coat of epoxy over the whole thing. It's not as durable as the original porcelain, but it's pretty good. Anyway, the epoxy has a 3 day cure time and that's now over so I can shower at will.

b) It's really wet here. There are a bunch of mature trees just down the street from me that fell down last weekend in just a moderate wind. The soil was so wet that their roots just slipped right through. It's so wet that our tomato plants are experiencing nitrogen depletion problems because the dirt is so wet.

Luckily, there was a brief break in the weather while they ran the Preakness yesterday and I got the lawn mowed. It's raining again today though.

c) 120's not that bad. It's dry heat! :)
