Goin’ to the Movies
Saturday, August 4th, 2007I’ve been watching a lot of movies lately. Here are my thoughts.
The Simpsons Movie. One thumb up. It’s the Simpsons, only in movie length. Unfortunately, the plot isn’t much more involved than a regular television episode. There are plenty of laughs though, and it’s definitely worthwhile to see in the theater if you’re a big fan of the Simpsons. Of course, since it’s a cartoon, there isn’t a huge reason to see it on the big screen.
No Reservations. I’m not the hugest fan of Catherine Zeta Jones (at least not since Entrapment and Zorro). Aaron Eckhart is a pretty decent actor too. Throw in the little girl from Little Miss Sunshine and you have a decent romantic comedy. Two thumbs up if you need a date movie. (This makes the second cooking movie in a few weeks… well, Ratatouille was the first one.)
The Bourne Ultimatum. I realized today that there really haven’t been many Matt Damon movies that I haven’t liked. Well, I hated Good Will Hunting because I hate movies where actors play smart people. For the same reason, I hated A Beautiful Mind. Anyway, assuming that you also like the movies Matt Damon has been in, this movie is a great one. Unfortunately, everyone else in Baltimore also decided to go see this movie so the only seats left were in the front row. With all the action in this movie, it’s not a bad idea to be a little bit farther back… you’ll get whiplash.
Now I just need to find a theater where Transformers is still playing. I really hope it’s not as horrible as Ghostrider.
