The sky is falling

well, maybe not, but the Rockies have won seven straight. Not bad for a team with purple uniforms.

Hmm. Well, they’re still 5.5 back, so I don’t think we have too much to worry about. I’m sure they’ll make sure to make up for the 7 game winning streak by going on a 13 game losing streak. It’s just the Rockies way. If they make it into first though, I think that will constitute “shock and awe.”

For another classy A-Rod move, check this out.

No wonder Johnny Damon jumped ship for more money: “‘I wasn’t sure that was allowed,’ outfielder Johnny Damon said. ‘If it is, maybe we’ll keep on doing it.’” Or do you suppose he was kidding, and it just doesn’t come across that way in the article?

Actually, I like Damon’s quote - it’s very much in character. And there’s no question about legality, it’s just a really class-less thing to do. Again, for A-Rod, very much in character.

As I told Mike and Nick at lunch: leave it to the Jays to be all Canadian-like and request to lodge a formal protest.

I’m pretty sure that a scrappier team with a more vested rivalry (the Red Sox, Mets, or, since they have nothing the lose, the hapless Cubbies) would have used this incident as a really legit excuse to take the bats to A-Rod’s punk ass.

Seriously, I’m talking about some classic Texas-style beatdown.

Ah, good times, that clip never gets old. Sad that the only version of it on YouTube has horrible music, but watch it on mute and just image the sound of a Ryan Express knuckle sandwich. :)
