wow, that would be a little exciting.

seriously though, there’s a lot of crap up there, and yes the sky is a huge solid angle but still you’d think this might start to happen more frequently.

headline in a few years: “Hubble skeleton downs plane carrying funding director”.

The crazy thing is that apparently the re-entering crap was louder than the engines. I gotta say that would be a little bit scary.

There’s a lot of non-satellite crap that rains down every day too (tons) so I’m a little bit surprised that no planes have been taken out by that.

Maybe they have though and “the man” just hasn’t told us.

I’m surprised more space junk hasn’t been brought down by meteor-stuff and then all that together taking out lots of stuff … Big solid angle might have something to do with it … and the whole ocean being 2/3 of the planet … Would be interesting to figure out what has been reported though, especially what “the man” hasn’t told us.

“the man” doesn’t tell us things??????

    oh dear.

I imagine that realization is terribly disillusioning for you Jenn, and I’m sorry. But yes, at select (few) times in history, governments make a top-level decision regarding the public release of information - either to limit uninformed over-reaction and panic or to prevent the information from being put to illegal/dangerous use by our enemies. I’m sure you understand, and most would agree that they are much more qualified to make such decisions.
