I’m getting ready for the insulators to come Tuesday morning to insulate my attic. The gas bill last month was $$$ way too much. It turns out that fancy Icynene is cool stuff. It allows moisture transmission, so you can spray it directly on the underside of your roof without having to worry about condensation rotting your roof off, but it strongly resists air movement. As a result, we’re basically going to seal the top of the house to prevent warm air from convecting out. If it wants out, it’s going to have to conduct through the walls and that’s no where near as efficient. It also is going to make it really easy for me to finish the attic and turn it into a nice room instead of a scary place.
I just realize though that I really need to have all the wiring roughed in before the insulation gets sprayed on Tuesday. So anyone want to help me do random work (tear down some old radiative barriers, run some new wires)? It’ll be fun.
No takers eh?
