Well, that pretty much sucks…

Got one of those calls that you really don’t want to receive tonight at 11 PM. S&S was calling to inform me that my truck was broken into, and they were hoping I could come down and go through the scene with them.
The short story is this: they opened the back, busted out the windows between the camper shell and the truck cab, rifled through my stuff, and, upon finding nothing to steal, left in a hurry. Seriously, nothing was stolen! What kind of half-assed miscreant are you if you don’t at least hot-wire the vehicle to take it for a joyride? It ain’t real hard to hot-wire something, so these vandals must be real slow.
I can’t say too much more, since the investigation into this incident and several other vehicle break-ins around town tonight is underway, but I can make the following vague and tantalizing assertions:
1) Truckzilla extracted a little retribution. Good girl!
2) Having access to a lab can be very helpful…
3) I can probably say a tiny bit more in person, but definitely not going to write any more.
Also, big props to my man Madhu for helping me secure things after the H-Po and S&S got what they needed from me and Truckzilla. If it wasn’t for his keen insight, I’d still be taping trash bags over the window openings. As it stands, he saw a way to solve the problem with much less effort.
Now, here’s to hoping they catch these fools! (There was apparently some good leads already…) Dang it! Now I’m all fired up, and I was actually on my way to bed when S&S called… No sleep for the weary… I swear…

That completely sucks. At least they only broke a relatively easy to replace window.? Not that it’s a lot of consolation.

Yeah, the suck-o-meter is pretty high. But as you say, at least they didn’t take anything. I can see how a nice truck in a Dartmouth parking lot could seem a tempting target, but what were they expecting? tools? fancy shit? oh well, their loss. Good luck to the H-Po.
