also know as, wow, I’m glad I didn’t go here for undergrad.

Select headlines and commentary from today’s D:

(1) Arson rate higher at Dartmouth.  No, that doesn’t mean that over the last couple years there has been an increase in arson… No, it means that Dartmouth reported more incidents of arson on its campus than any other Ivy League school in the past two years, according to crime statistics mandated for all colleges by the Clery Act… College Proctor Harry Kinne said that these statistics are not cause for alarm because different states define arson in different ways.

okay, no big deal, but still not a great front page for the school newspaper.
(2) Sexual assault is no big deal.

Seriously, this guy is out of touch.  You write a letter to editor saying that rape is no big deal and probably don’t have to worry about a backlash?  That’s pretty twisted. Okay, so that’s not quite what he said, but I know of quite a number of “incidents” that were carefully swept under the rug… sheesh.

why would I say such a thing, you ask?  Well, I was reminded of this fact because it has saved me the pain that is a Fox broadcast.  Good Lord, they suck.

if you need proof, check out this entertaining blow-by-blow of last night’s Game 7.  Neither team really deserved to make it to the WS and it will be a shame if Detroit doesn’t destroy the Cards, but that’s not the point.

Political intimidation and racism from the GOP?  no way!

Who knows if it’ll matter in the end, but one can hope that the good guys will win for a change.
