Quality Fall Traditions

Monday, September 11th, 2006

No matter what the schedule indicates, the college football season begins when Aggies practice their yells, Notre Dame students paint the helmets, Clemson players rub the rock, and even when the boats start sailing up the Tennessee River to dock across from Neyland Stadium.
with apologies to Nick for his bad weekend of football, I have to say welcome back, and this list of top ten college football traditions is good stuff.  Except for number 10, which is odd and out of place… please, “Nebraska, first to use a Jumbotron”?  puh-lease.

Driving around Colorado

Monday, September 11th, 2006

So yesterday was our day off and I celebrated by seeing how many miles I could put on a rental car. It was actually pretty cool… I took off from Aspen heading west and went on route 133 to a little town called Delta about 120 miles away. At times, the road went through aspen forests, sometimes pine forests, then I went over a pass and saw a river with some of the weirdest erosional patterns I’ve ever seen. After that it was north to Grand Junction and then a high-speed run on I-70 back to Aspen.

In the end, it was just about exactly 300 miles and an entertaining day of driving around. Pictures will be available in about a month once I get the film developed and scanned.

Russ, Sean, Johnny D, and everyone else.

For one day, how about no stupid political comments, no partisan attacks? Just honor our heroes.
