Post-deadline Sox trade

In a deal that was made more dicey because of having to pass through waivers, the Sox acquired catcher Javy Lopez from the Orioles, giving them another option with Varitek out. Lopez isn’t the All-Star he was with the Braves, but he’s still a nice catch with Boston giving up only cash and Mr. NamedLater in return. I’m assuming it means Huckaby will be sent back down to the Pawsox, but dunno who we’re gonna give up.

Things Fall Apart

With apologies to Chinua Achebe, sometimes they don’t, and that’s when you have to making that apart-ing happen. The problem with getting old(er), though, is that you recognize that things don’t always work (properly) after trying to reassemble them - stupid sense of consequence! Happily, there is a solution: live vicariously through other people’s efforts.

Here’s a quote to give you the flavor: The 1st generation Apple iPod is among the most difficult mp3 players to take apart. There are no screws on the exterior of the unit, and there limited visible means of separating the two halves.
