Star Wars on a Banjo

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

I don’t recognize it, but it claims to be something from Star Wars, presumably the opening theme? It sounds fun, anyway. I would never guess it’s Star Wars.

R.I.P. Percy?

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

for those of you who don’t know, Percy is my car.  Well, when I picked up Becky today to go swimming, on our way down the hill from the office, the car finally gave out.  I’ve been having alignment issues with the right front wheel for a few weeks now.  Why?  Because apparently my FRAME was breaking.  The guy loaded it on the tow truck, took a look, and then pointed out to me and Bek where the frame had completely crumbled away right above the wheel.  So, my dear car is quite likely not fixable, and even if he is, it’s probably not worth it.  I will hear from the Car Store tomorrow, since they were closed when I had it towed.

It’s a series of tubes

Ok, this is probably a sign that I’ve been watching too much “news” programming on Comedy Central, but are all of our politicians insane?

Ted Stevens, the man in charge of the committee that regulates the internet (and one of my fabulous senators from Alaska… keep in mind that the other one was appointed to her position by her dad), doesn’t know what email is or how networks work.

Our marvelous president can’t keep his hands off the leader of Germany and can’t shut the fuck up about the fact that people give long speeches at the G8 meeting.

Here we are, the world’s superpower who should probably be working on fixing things in the Middle East, and we’re a bunch of idiotic frat boys. Fuck.

Daily Wingnut: Super Mega Funnies +1 Issue

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Wow, this has got to be one of the best e-mails I’ve ever received.

So, here’s the text of one of those scientific spams that occasionally crop up (e.g., The Uncertainty Principle Is Untenable). The quoted text of his e-mail (after the jump) takes it to a whole new level of fruitcakery…

It looks like some of the rest of y’all were copied on it as well, so I’m sure you’ve already had a good laugh or two at this poor fool’s expense. I am particularly amused by the notion he has that circulating this message and posting his nonsense on his webpage will be given due consideration by the Nobel folks…

This guy ranks right up there with the local favorite, Archimedes Plutonium, although Gabriel Agbasi may well be a little more (scroll down until you see the highlighted text) than mostly harmless.
