Three ouch moments

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

First, a local one…
At Subway there’s a sign that the 100th sponsor for a March of Dimes fundraiser will get a free sub. There are currently about 12 names on the list. It doesn’t make me want to help with the sponsoring.

Two Microsoft ouches.
Vista is delayed until 2007 so there will be no Christmas rush for the new version of Windows. And no rush for computers to run it either.

No one cares about Origami. Microsoft came up with a huge online advertising plan, and when people saw the iPod killer/email appliance/small tablet computer/all things to all people/doohicky, they said “ehh?” and walked away.

On the up side, Microsoft is going to sell a lot of xboxes.

Old-time Music Review

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

This morning I re-discovered one of my more favorite rock bands - apparently Dookie makes for good background tunes while doing CAD/machining design. But anyway, it’s really impressive (a) how much Green Day’s sound has changed while (b) still rocking out pretty well. The parallel that comes to mind when examining a band’s growth/exploration is actually U2; trying out a lot of stuff but managing to keep (most of) it rather listenable.

anyway, that’s my shallow thought for the day.

(Hopefully somebody in blog-land thinks I’m full of shit and we can snap out of the collective posting-apathy that’s struck recently?)
