Cleaning up the ol’ hard drive…

Monday, November 28th, 2005  amused

Sometimes, you find some really funny stuff hangin’ out that you forgot about.

For instance, did y’all know that, for a price of approximately $1, you can buy your own bag of cock-flavored soup mix?

Curiously enough, closer inspection of the ingredients reveals a conspicuous absence of cock.

Reasons why to NOT upgrade to iTunes 6

Monday, November 28th, 2005

Hmm, okay, that probably got at least some of your attention. Anyway, for those not aware, JHymn is a slick little app that disables the DRM lock on iTunes files and thus you don’t have to go through the bother of authorizing each computer, people can listen to your purchased music, etc. Of course, my new powerbook frustratingly has v6 already installed, but I’m going to see what I can do about that.

Space dust

Not earth-shaking news, but still impressive and whatnot. Actually, my first thought was “dude, I wonder how tricky it is to keep stable” when they shot the asteroid. (That was b/c i misread gramme as kilogram, but no matter.) In addition to some advance warning of an “Armageddon”scenario, it’ll be kinda cool to find out what the suckers are made of. (The probe’s capsule containing the samples is due to land in the Australian outback in June 2007.)

117,000!!

Saturday, November 26th, 2005

Percy’s odometer rolled over to 117,000 miles on a drive down to Gettysburg to go outlet shopping with my friend Emily from college, and THIS TIME I SAW IT HAPPEN! It was fun to watch it, and it happened about 20 miles south of Harrisburg, PA (i.e. near Dillsburg). Man it was nice to see gburg again. I need to go back sometime when i have time to walk around the battlefields and the town. I miss doing that. I’d really like to end up back there teaching, though I think I want to try a few other places first.

Sayonara, Miyagi-san…

Friday, November 25th, 2005  hungry

Pat Morita, whom we all know as Mr. Miyagi and some may remember his work as Arnold on “Happy Days” as well, has passed away.

He’ll be missed, that’s for sure.

So, um, happy thanksgiving

This is from dial-up, too. I just gave up using my mom’s old iMac and plugged in my new dude, and that actually helped a lot.

But anyway, hope y’all had a good one.
