Yet another linkpost.
is having a big sale right now if you’re looking for a nice corduroy sportcoat. Look at the “Holmes” sportcoat.
I’d buy one right now if they had them in tall sizes.
Another post from the news. Seems like you really have to be concerned about resonance whenever you’re building a bridge… and the driving force can come from some odd things whether it’s vortex shedding or just people walking in step.
Revealed: Why London’s Millennium Bridge wobbled
Those of you who know more about the military than I do: aren’t people taught to do a stutter step when you’re marching across a bridge specifically to avoid resonances?
Wouldn’t that be exciting.
I assume when they say “30 meter lens” they really mean “30 meter mirror”? Otherwise, that’s gonna be v. impressive just in terms of engineering?
I want to catch Wallace and Gromit at the Nugget tomorrow night, because on the sign this evening, it said that it’s closing tomorrow. I also wanted to see Proof, but I guess I’ll have to wait til that comes out on DVD. Or maybe they’ll play it at the Hop? Seems like something they would show, but the past couple film society series haven’t terribly interested me.
