I’m starting to like this Chavez guy

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

Not only is he offering food, fuel, and help to us, he’s also offering discount gas to poor Americans and eye surgery to Americans without access to health care.

Wonderful. Must be nice to have an oil-rich country when everyone wants oil.

Speaking of cojones

I like Chavez’s guts. It’s important not to go too far, since the guy definitely is no angel, but if for nothing else I’m happy to hoist a pint in a southern direction for a dude who will stand up to the Bully from the North.

A preview of things to come

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

I sat down this morning with my bread and my peanut butter to enjoy a little snack before going back to bed, and low and behold, the first piece of bread I pulled out had two little excavation sites on them, one on each of the lower corners. I stared for a minute, then looked at the bag. Yup, little holes chewed through the bag. We’ve got a mouse in the house. I’m hoping that the mice at MDM are much better behaved. Because dammit, I like my peanut butter bread. I threw the loaf out. It was more than half gone already anyway.

It doesn’t take much…

…to get our Dear Leader to cut short his vaction.

Just a Category 4 hurricane hitting a major metropolitan center and devasting the coastal areas of three Southern states.

Good grief; why can’t our current political leaders show a little more grit and be a little more dutiful?

Damning the man

Re: Tim’s comment on “w00t” - I’ve recently decided that I refuse to allow my vocabulary to be limited and/or re-defined by other’s usage. For example, my high school (Westtown - note the quality brown and white color scheme) has a big W as its logo, and it’s pretty cool. After Dubya (wasn’t) elected I generally haven’t worn such stuff, but I’m rethinking that logic - it’s kinda like Voldemort… if we decline to assign all “W”s to the asshole, then we take away from some of his power? So anyway, I won’t apologize for other’s of “my” words.

Study music?

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005  working

So, now that a reasonable segment of us are burying our noses in the books, maybe it’s time for a survey?

Anyways, here’s the questions, which I’ll answer in the first comment thread to get us going:

1. Do you prefer to study with music, with some other background, or with silence?

2. If you like some noise to go with your work, what general sort do you prefer, i.e., type of music, sports broadcast, talk radio, etc.?

3. List some favorite artists, albums, pieces, or songs that get the ol’ noggin in the studying mode.

There are two of them!

For those of you who are a fan of attractive women that bring you beer, here is the second installment of, well, the best you can do in that realm from the comfort of your computer screen … that is unless you have your own office / home beer wench. In which case you are a lucky mother fu*ker. Gather ’round the Virtual Bartender II and order what you like.
