If astro doesn’t work out…

I think I’ll go into the doggy daycare/boarding business. Not sure if the businesses around here produce enough income to live off of, or if they’re living off their “former lives.” Seems like the general story on these people are “I was working in (some city) doing (some well-paying job) and decided to trade it in for the country life instead.”

Soon I can give blood again?

The current method for identification/detection of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (Mad Cow) is to do a post-mortem brain analysis… which really isn’t so great for those of us who are fond of our skulls staying intact. But now they’ve figured out how to make a biological photomultiplier tube to increase prion levels to above the detectable threshold, bonus! (incidentally, Karli did similar work a couple years ago, which I think is cool.) Anyway, this new test is I think a lot more accurate than the old kind, which produced a LOT of false positives - not a bonus when positive means “congrats your brain is gonna rot.”

Bush’s approval ratings have finally dipped below the Mendoza line. :)

If he keeps this up, he’ll also be in line to record one of the highest ever disapproval ratings as well. So much for the “political capital” that majority popular vote supposedly mandated him.

Hurricane Katrina

Wow… This one’s pretty bad-ass, even by my standards.

I sure hope that anybody’s friends or family ain’t caught in this one, as the New Orleans and coastal Mississippi areas are really catching hell this time around.

[EDITED: too long for the front page, Tim!]
