“Why The Hell Not?”

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005  hungry

That’s gotta be the best campaign slogan. Ever.

To find out more, y’all outta read up on the political upheaval unfolding in Texas.

If Minnesota could do it with Jesse Ventura and California with the Governator, then you can bet your ass the Lone Star State will do its best to top the both of them by electing the one and only Kinky Friedman as governor in 2006.

Ouch!

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

So you all thought I was good at hurting myself before … Just you wait! There is no bound for the pain and injury I am able to cause myself - someone get the video camrea. Seriously though, get this. Today I was in Fairbanks as this PARS summer school, and we were all piling in vans to go to dinner after classes etc, so I proceeded to jump in the back of a van and sit down. Funny thing is though, that I did it a little more quickly than one should cautiously get into a vehicle … especially when climbing through seat belts and taking off ones bag at the same time. Concequently, I managed to hit my head square on the door hook along the roof of van and cut an inch long gash in my head. Naturally I proceeded to bleed all over the van and myself before realizing it was more than just a bump. Now I felt fine, and was seeriously surprised even to see blood from this bump, but within the next 45 min they made sure for the paramedics to come check me out, take me to urgent care and put 8 staples in my head (pictures to come). Damn I’m good!

Pink eye, again

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

Once again Mira’s managed to get pink eye. Only one eye this time, at least. And so far I’ve managed to give her a dose of ointment tonight with nobody extra to hold her down. From what I can gather from the internet, it seems that the pink eye should not be contagious to any of us. Anyone feel lucky enough to test this? :)

It also seems to not be as contagious from dog to dog as the human to human variety is. I suspect that’s because it’s far less improbable for one dog to wipe his or her eye on their paw, touch something that another dog comes along and touches, and then that dog rubbing his or her eye with the paw that touched the something.
