berry goodness

Posted by Holly.

so i’ve got about 4 cups of freshly picked raspberries…..and no idea what to do with them. i’ve looked at pie recipes, but i’m too lazy to make a crust or anything. maybe i’ll just make a sauce for on some ice cream. or just eat them all as i try to figure out what to do with them :)

    mmmmm, pie!

i would volunteer to make some, except I have no kitchen (thanks to nick, tim, and truckzilla for help with the moving!)

but seriously, don’t waste them by making them into a sauce - eat them plain on ice cream, or in pie (don’t even have to make a crust, i’ll make it or you can buy frozen ones?)

    mmmm, pie…

I’m not so sure about raspberry pie. I’d just keep most of them in the fridge and some out, and eat them whenever you walk by.

You wouldn’t believe the number of blueberries that I’ve eaten lately.

i’ve been eating them every time i open the fridge. i was really thinking “pie” yesterday when i picked them, but now i’m thinking “muffins”. it’s been awhile since i’ve had muffins.

actually, scratch the muffins. i think i’ll just go buy a cake mix, mash up the berries, and make “raspberry shortcake”. with yellow cake instead of shortcake, because that’s the way i like it.

ok, one yellow cake made. one container of sugary mashed up raspberries made.

the nice thing about making a cake, is that i get to lick the bowl/beaters ALL BY MYSELF! mmmm, goodness. though, if i should get astoundingly ill tomorrow, i’d just like to state here that it’s probably salmonella.

now, if only studying for quals was as enjoyable as raspberry shortcake.

    Two words: raspberry cobbler.
