those morning “market corrections” will get you every time. but diversification of one’s portfolio never sounded so good.

Some minor changes

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

1) Dashboard is cleaned up again and has Michael’s requested comic feed on it.
2) The weather is working again. (it had been down for a few days)
3) It was 97 degrees and dry yesterday and it’s 75 and raining today. That’s a fairly major change.

RSS suggestion for Nathaniel

This would be way better than the Wordpress news junk currently on Dashboard…

Wayward parts…

Friday, July 22nd, 2005  determined

So, I’ve been looking fairly thoroughly for a very specific PCB-mounted rotary switch for the last few days. In particular, it’s an Electroswitch model C2P0408S-A, a 4-pole 8-position make-before-break (shorting-style) rotary that that mounts at a right angle to a PC board.

I know these must exist, since we already have four of them on the current amplifiers we’ve been building. We need two more to complete the last two current amps, and not much else will do, since the particular footprint, lead pattern, and make-before-break requirements leave no wiggle room. Too bad I can’t seem to find the darn things through Allied, Digi-Key, Mouser, or Newark.

I’d welcome any constructive suggestions about alternative suppliers. Also, would anyone with a line on reasonably-priced 10 microfarad polypropylene film capacitors (100V rated, 5% tolerance, axial-lead) be willing to hook a brother up? Many thanks in advance…

Mice! and Kitties :)

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

Ok. So there is mice in my apartment like it’s their job. Several mouse traps later, I thought they might be gone. But last night there was this mouse sitting in the hall. And he didn’t run away after much staring back and forth and lots of noise making. Finally it was decided that the mouse was probably sick, and it is now under a bucket with a heavy bottle of laundry soap on top to keep him from getting out. But what do I do now? Moving or flipping the bucket over is not currently an option, as I am terrified of mice. If anyone has a suggestion or is brave and wants to help in the removal the mouse from my hallway, I would appreciate it muchly.

On a much better note, Nathaniel’s kitties are wonderful. They are so soft and cute and friendly. :)
