Thanks for the memorable performances you gave us and for making yourself an indelible part of our popular culture.

In case anyone forgot today is July 20.

“One small step…”

…and one big-ass rocket.

If y’all remember from my earlier post, this Saturday is the official “National Day of the American Cowboy”.

To celebrate, the Cowboy Union (local 314, President Earl “Slim” Jenkins) has asked those of us with appropriate attire (hat, boots, jeans, large belt buckle, etc.) to wear our cowboy and cowgirl gear with pride this Friday, July 22nd. Anyone capable of participating caught wimpin’ out will be summarily tarred, feathered, and drug behind the most conveniently available horse.

Also, if’n y’all are in the mood, head on over to the “Americana” section of your iTunes Radio options and give a listen to the Cowboy Cultural Society webcast.

But this is pretty cool. I think we’re not really a better team, but we’ve been playing pretty well recently, and it’s a gratifying show of respect. (I know a couple guys on the team, so it’s exciting for them, too.)
