Weather

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

It’s not quite as bad here in Boston as in the upper valley. It’s still bad though.

Which makes me every so happy that I’m sitting in my hotel room at a wonderfully dry 70 degrees.

Good times.

Question

How many people found the party at the pool yesterday evening, without running into Holly and Becky, or knowing where it was already?

Zero? Okay, good.

Parking…

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

is it possible to contest a dartmouth parking ticket? i got one today ($50 !!!) because my sticker is expired. only i never got a warning it was expired, since i didn’t park in the pit until, like, last friday or so. i’ll be damned if i’m forking over $50, and then forking over another $80 for the damned new sticker. it’s not like i was taking a spot that someone with a valid sticker needed. the pit’s never full! i swear, i’m taking this one as far as i can go, because i never got a warning, and the back of the ticket says student fines, first offense, WARNING! 2nd offense, $10, third and more, $20. i wasn’t in an unauthorized lot, it’s not an unregistered vehicle, i HAVE A PERMIT, it’s just not valid anymore. it doesn’t say “unregistered vehicle, no VALID permit displayed $50″, it says “unregistered vehicle, no permit displayed $50″. i’ll get people to write letters vouching that i was out of town and on an odd schedule, so i didn’t get the notice that was apparently passed out en masse one day. i will fight this until they get so tired of hearing from me that they decide it’s not worth the $50.

anyway, i’m hoping that all ihave to do is say, look, i’m here now to buy the sticker, i’ve never had a violation before, and i never got the notice that they were expiring. cut me some slack. because i don’t want to have to get bitchy and obnoxious, but it’s sure worth $50 to me to do so.

MDP (most dangerous program)

Tuesday, July 19th, 2005

So… what’s the program (past or present) that has caused the most BSOD (blue screen of death)’s?

Off-hand, I would toss out RealPlayer (older versions especially), ICQ, and of course, IE.
