NOOOOOooooooooo!

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

They’re apparently getting rid of all the cameras that I used to get my thesis data at MDM.

Don’t stand in the way of progress.

Of course, it’s good when progress has something to replace the things that worked in the past.

It isn’t raining in West Leb

You’ve got to love thunderstorms. So nice and self-contained at times.

By the time I got half-way home, the roads were dry.

A summertime playlist

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

I needed a break from the lab, so now there’s a Chillin’ & Grillin’ playlist for y’all to sample. It has quite a variety since I pretty much wimped out on trying to cut it down to ~25 songs, but there’s a lot of good stuff on there - and the wide range was intentional, so enjoy!

Too much to list here, unlike the earlier thread.

Post-Fajita-Night-at-EBA’s slump…

Thursday, June 9th, 2005  lethargic

Man, I ate too much…

But when the fajitas ain’t half bad, and there’s at least two different languages being tossed around the table full of your labmates and everybody’s psyched up about the lab getting rolling again, it’s so easy to let yourself wolf down too much before you realize it.

I tell y’all one thing, though, it’s siesta time for sure now.

Oops, take two

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

Sorry, eventually I’ll quit posting these, but for now this is kinda exciting/encouraging… basically the London Times reported documents from Blair’s government saying that Bush made shit up, and when asked, British officials “did not dispute the document’s authenticity.” A senior American official has described it as an”absolutely accurate description of what transpired.” [props to downingstreetmemo.com for those links.]

And if you want more venting/facts/etc the dedicated dsm blog is worth checking out. Basically this is only relevant if you want to (a) get depressed, (b) acquire ammo to shoot down any Bush-supporters you might know or (c) be truly amazed at the Administration’s audacity.

or, here’s a great chonology of the whole mess.

It just doesn’t stop

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

Now we apparently let oil lobbyists edit climate reports? Oh wait, the VPres does that anyway, but still, this is ridiculous (duh). However, at least it’s coverage in the US, unlike some issues… from USA Today we get

But some scientists reacted angrily. It’s “par for the course from the administration, in terms of interfering with science for political ends,” said Luke Warren of the Union of Concerned Scientists, which has criticized the Bush administration’s science policies.

Actually, given that physicists don’t know English, it’s probably a good thing to have somebody editing the thing…

QVC for Chris Peters

… and anybody else who likes jeans. I was killing time this morning while waiting for the system to warm up and found Lucky’s for 30% off, or these guys ($64 from $145). I personally don’t believe in spending more than $35 or so on jeans since I can find what I want on sale now and then, but as a public service I’m posting this. :)
