Lightning
Friday, May 27th, 2005I drove through a little thunderstorm today and it lifted my spirits for a little bit.
It was still fairly early but the sky was dark with clouds. One of those times when you turn your headlights on just to make sure that other drivers can see you rather than because you need the light to make your way.
Then, in the distance, came the flashes. More and more frequently and seemingly with more power. Soon I was in the storm with it’s grey dreary light. That light was punctuated by these beautiful flashes of violet-blue light with just a touch of orange at the end. It was the visual equivalent of eating some wonderful dessert where the flavors dance on your tongue and slowly slide from one sensation to another.
It made me wish I was a cinematographer and could capture it to share with other people. And it made me feel a little bit silly that my first thought was “that’s some pretty nitrogen emission.”
I hope everyone is well.
