Yea me.

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005  complacent

Probably at least half the people who read this blog already have heard, but hey, why not put it up for public consumption. I’m actually proud of myself for having gone 5 full months before *finally* being stopped by the Norwich police. I’m impressed that it took so long.

Guess my luck ran out with getting away with just a warning, and that’s why I sucked at poker tonight.

Proofs

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005  hungry

Well, finally got the proofs for my paper that’s being published in the July PASP. Now my job the next two days is to look over them and make sure everything’s ok. Man, the first half of the year has flown by. And I’ve done so pathetically little. Hopefully paper #2 goes faster. So far it hasn’t.

Welcome

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

Tomorrow a friend of mine from undergrad, David, gets here. He will be here for the summer working for Lorenza for an reu program thing. So when you see him, welcome him cause he is such a fun guy :) And we are going to go get indain food for dinner tomorrow (Wednesday) night, if anyone is interested in going, let me know.

New Feature

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

Tim asked for it so here it is… a “current music” message.

Here’s how you do it…
Go to the custom fields area (where you do moods) and use a keyword of ‘mylisten’ (without the singlequotes of course).
For the value, enter the name of the band. Or maybe something like ‘SONG by BAND’

One caveat. This will only show up if you’re looking at an individual post. It made the front page kind of messy, but if you all would like I can play with it a little bit more.

And yes, this was harder than it should have been.

Speaking of music…

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005  thoughtful

Just wondering, but how difficult would it be to include the option for a “Current Music” field to posts here on the ol’ Soapbox?

It might be a fun addition to supplement the mood faces thing y’all already have going.

I’d be happy to help set it up, but I’m guessing my complete lack of relevant skillz would be more a detriment than a boon to those administrator type folks charged with such tasks.

I got some jazz

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

And I’ll claim it’s in honor of Tim even if that isn’t actually the case.

I also have to admit that it’s much more of Samba/Bossa nova than mainstream American jazz. Then again, I likes what I likes and Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto is what I likes.

Flowers

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

Due to the wonderful purchasing power of Costco and the face that my wife can’t enjoy flowers for their full life due to her travel schedule, there are flowers to be taken home in my office.

I’m going to enjoy them for the day, but towards late afternoon you all can feel free to get one. The limit is one flower per person, with the exception of people who have defended a thesis (lets say in the last 2.5 weeks) who can have a half dozen.

They’re nice and smelly.
