I had assumed that after two big problems, Panda House would have cleaned up their act, but apparently not. Just thought I’d pass that along, especially since a friend of mine just got (minorly) burned.

Just a follow up note on the rhymes-with-cam; it attracts itself. So if you receive a “[soapbox] comment…” email that looks like spam, you should immediately go on the blog and delete it.

I don’t speak Chinese and my lack of knowledge there also means that I can’t really tell if the actors are going a good job acting. A lot of the time, the movie could be almost silent with a rousing soundtrack of flutes and drums. The thing that is universal (besides the music) is the cinematography, so that’s how I judge a lot of foreign films.

And for this movie I just didn’t buy a lot of it. It was too sharp, too bright, there was no atmosphere. It just didn’t make me feel like I was in the movie.

So when people debate which movie is better between Hero and this one, I have my answer.
